In the focus of this edition are the art critics who followed the domestic photographic scene from the 1950s to the early 2000s and contributed their texts to understanding and female photography. In the introductory text, ethnologist and cultural anthropologist Sara Simic gives an overview of the research of the photographic scene marked by the work of authors who wrote about photographic exhibitions. The analysis of hundreds of articles has chosen texts that show a satisfactory level of reflection on the photographic media in the broader political and cultural context. In order to explain the involvement of critics in photographic events from the 1970s to the 1990s, art historian Ivana Završki provides insight into the activities of the Women’s Section of Fotoklub Zagreb and Fotoklub Split and presents key names for understanding the development of female photography.
