Brsalje is a series of analog black-and-white photographs that Ana Opalic began to take in 1996, showing always the same frame — the surfaces of the sea and the sky divided precisely along the centre by the line of the horizon and framed by the rocks. The artist leaves out the signals of Dubrovnik space, and it is only clear to the inhabitants and frequent visitors of the City that in the invisible spaces on the right-hand side of the frame of the fortress Lovrijenac and on the left-hand side of Bokar. In the complete absence of any human trace, in its purified composition, the scene appears to be at the end of the world.
