Project “Common Photographic Narratives” brings together a number of associations and institutions with the purpose of conducting multi-year activities dedicated to photography in the 20th century, a medium most directly linked to the development of modern society. By joining forces, it enables research, education, exhibition, and writing about the history of Croatian photography through the history of print media in which visual and textual contributions about culture, industry, tourism, and other social aspects were published. The goal of the project is to raise awareness about society and the ways in which everyday life was interpreted through photography, to determine to what extent it was involved in propaganda, and which visual tools photographers used in an environment that traditionally “suffered” from the syndrome of fine arts.
